Ingredients

  • 2 waffles (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2–3 slices deli turkey, ham, or chicken (for savory option)
  • 1–2 slices cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
  • 1 fried or scrambled egg (optional, savory)
  • 2 strips cooked bacon or sausage (optional, savory)
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter or Nutella (for sweet option)
  • 1/2 banana, sliced (or strawberries)
  • 1 tbsp honey, jam, or maple syrup

Equipment

  • toaster or waffle iron for reheating waffles
  • knife or spatula for spreading fillings
  • skillet or panini press optional, for grilling

Method

  1. Toast or heat the waffles until golden and crisp.
  2. Add your choice of savory or sweet fillings onto one waffle.
  3. Top with the second waffle to form a sandwich.
  4. For a grilled version, cook in a skillet or panini press for 2–3 minutes per side until cheese melts.
  5. Slice in half and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, toast waffles before assembling so they don’t get soggy. Thicker Belgian waffles hold fillings best. To meal prep, wrap sandwiches tightly in foil and freeze—then reheat in the oven for 10–12 minutes.
