Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup pure honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Equipment

  • Baking dish
  • Medium bowl
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and sesame oil until smooth and well combined.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish and pour the honey garlic sauce generously over the top.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). For extra glossiness, baste the chicken with pan sauce halfway through cooking.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 3-5 minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve over rice or alongside your favorite vegetables.

Notes

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in oven at 350°F (177°C) for 10-12 minutes covered with foil, or microwave in 1-minute intervals at 70% power. Make-Ahead: Mix sauce and season chicken up to a day ahead, storing separately. Substitutions: Use chicken thighs for more juiciness, or swap honey for maple syrup. For gluten-free, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. Add chili flakes or sriracha for heat.
