  • Caramel sauce optional
  • Peanut butter optional
  • Peppermint extract optional
  • Candy corn optional
  • White chocolate optional

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Serving glass(es)
  • Freezer
  • Spoon
  • Optional: Piping bag (for whipped cream)
  • Optional: Halloween themed straws

Method

  1. Chill your serving glass(es) in the freezer for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a blender, combine the vanilla ice cream, milk, black cocoa powder, activated charcoal powder (if using), and chocolate syrup.
  3. Blend on medium speed until everything is well combined and the milkshake is smooth and creamy. Add more milk if the milkshake is too thick or more ice cream if too thin.
  4. Taste and adjust the flavor as needed. Add more chocolate syrup or honey for sweetness or more black cocoa powder for a chocolatey taste.
  5. Pour the milkshake into your chilled glass(es).
  6. Garnish with whipped cream, sprinkles, Oreo cookies, gummy worms, chocolate chips, or any other spooky treats you like.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, slightly soften the ice cream before blending. Start blending on low speed and gradually increase to medium to avoid splashing. Be cautious with activated charcoal powder, using a small amount to prevent a gritty texture. Consider rimming the glass with chocolate syrup and dipping it in crushed Oreos or black sprinkles for a festive touch. This milkshake can easily be made vegan by using vegan ice cream, plant-based milk, and vegan chocolate syrup. For a spiderweb effect, drizzle melted white or dark chocolate in a spiderweb pattern inside the glass before pouring in the milkshake. Store leftover milkshake in the freezer for up to 2 hours, but note that the texture may change upon thawing.
